Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress "Memphis Belle"
£109.50
The Memphis Belle is the most famous B-17 Flying Fortress used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II. The "Memphis Belle" is most notable for being the first to survive its tour of duty over Europe. These bombers were often damaged or lost as a result of intense resistance.
The Memphis Belle became a symbol of the courage and tenacity of bomber crews during the war. After its combat service ended, the aircraft was transported to the United States, where it attracted attention as a symbol of American success in the air war. In May 2018, the restored version of the aircraft was finally donated to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, where it is on display to the public.
